Performancing so Far
So I’ve been switching back and forth between Live Writer and Performancing (firefox plugin) for my remote blog posting. Here’s a few things that really stood out to me with Firefox’s version:
Integration into browser (I just click the little notepad to access it, it covers half my browser space. That’s still more than enough to see.) There’s easy access to my categories and other normal tools. It’s a very streamlined interface.
I haven’t gotten a chance to do an image test so let me go ahead and try that out now. One moment:
Okay…as far as I can tell, their image handling is really really rudimentary. You can link from page or upload your own. Beyond that there’s just a drag resizing of the image (no auto thumbs) as well as no quick alignment tags. While going into the HTML editor is very easy, I do like to be lazy and let it auto align the image for me. There is also no auto linking the image, no graphical effects to be added, and no way to auto input borders. It’s way too basic for me to be able to use it a ton. Even a normal alignment switch doesn’t seem to be affecting the image.
One thing I like a lot is that you just go from one post to another. There’s no post then open up another window then do another post bullshit that live writer has. Once you publish a post, you can stay on the same content or you can start a new post in the same window.
There is also a note taking feature in Performancing that I’m sure I would use more if I didn’t have the ever so wonderful Agenda at Once software.
There are a lot of nifty little features but overall I think Live writer is winning this battle currently. The third entrant, w.bloggar, is being installed sometime this week. After that I’ll do the complete comparison.
